Spring training session
（Pictures) |
The spring training session of the Taijiquan was
held at Ai plaza on Mar. 21st.
We invited the guests from Aichi Taijiquan league. They showed
Taijiquan and after that, all participants tried Taijiquan. At
the end of the session, Chinese tea and snack were served to the
participants. |

Japanese class committee

The 4th International Potluck party was held in
the auditorium in Kariyado hall. Total 145 people including 65
foreigners of 13 countries came to the party and enjoyed various
ethnic foods which were brought by participants. The
participants also enjoyed performances and games and developed
friendship. |

Board meeting |
The 3rd board meeting of Handa International
Association was held at the meeting room in Kura-city. Half year
result of accounting and the association activities in Heisei 18
were reported. Discussion was made how to operate the
association from now on. |

Board meeting |
The board meeting was held at Handa Citizen Center. The board
members actively discussed various agenda including the

Total 91 people (59 foreigners and 32 Japanese) went to
“Little
World”
amusement park and enjoyed walking with hand made stamp rally. |

5th operating committee meeting was held at the
association office. There were active exchange of opinions on
how we should manage the association activities in the future,
reports from various committees, review of the change of the
association articles, etc. |

The training
session in Autumn was held for the association members on Nov.
3rd. The topics of the training were Sri Lanka and Bali and
Asian tea time.
Some 100
people including foreigners and citizens participated.

celebrate 25th anniversary of the sister city
relationship.

KonnichiWorld festival

The 4th KonnichiWorld festival was held at the front
yard and the auditorium of Kariyado hall. In spite of a bad
weather, the festival was successful with around 300 visitors
including 100 festival staff. We had participants from 14
countries. At the country booths, people enjoyed ethnic foods
and arts and crafts from each country. |

A welcome party was held for New Zealand students. All
participants including host families and citizens enjoyed
barbecue and the music played by Handa Junior Brass Band. |

participate the festival. |

Visit Midland to commemorate 25th anniversary of the
sister city relationship

The delegation of Handa mayor, president of Handa international
association and other 4 members visited Midland on May 23rd
to commemorate 25th anniversary of the sister city
relationship and further strengthened the friendship between
both cities.

The 1st board meeting for Heisei 18 was held at the
office of the association from 6:30 pm. The president and other
board members attended the meeting and discussed the outline of
the activities in this fiscal year. Each board member is
requested to hold a committee meeting to make a plan before the

The president of the association attended the ceremony to
celebrate the completion of Higuchi Friendship Museum which
commemorates Aichi EXPO in 2005. The museum is located in
Siratsuka-cho in Mie prefecture. The Buddha statues from Bhutan
pavilion are displayed. Bhutan was one of the friendship
countries for Handa at Aichi EXPO. |

fresh foreign students of Japan Welfare University on April 27th. |

Music concert after the annual general assembly of Hnada
International Association |
On April 25th, we had a music concert performed by
Todd Hardy Quartet. It was performed in a planetarium hall in
Handa. The audience was fascinated with wonderful music.

The general assembly of the fiscal year of Heisei 18 was held at
Handa Sky Science Museum on April 25th. All proposed
agenda were approved. |

The board meeting
 |
The board meeting of Handa International Association for the
fiscal year of Heisei 17 was held at Kariyado Hall in
Handa. 11 members including the chairman, the vice chairman,
board members and auditors participated the meeting. In the
meeting, the activities of the association and accounting book
during Heisei 17 were reported and approved. The revision of
several rules of the association was also proposed and approved.

On April 9th,
the students and volunteer teachers of Japanese class went on
picnic to see cherry blossoms and Chintoro Festival which was
held at Sumiyoshi-cho in Handa.
Everybody enjoyed a
beautiful cherry blossoms and learned a local traditional
festival. |
